So life lately...has been...CRAZY. In the best ways. Ben finally submitted two really big research papers (so hears to hoping they get accepted so he can go and present them in D.C and become published!!!) He is finishing up a project he has been working on for class credit and then will finally have a little bit of relief from what has seemed like never ending days of work and little/no sleep.
I am currently in Albany, GA at my parents house. (Hence the picture of my precious not so little brother) I am spending a few days here talking to people about the ministry I am serving on staff with at Mississippi State and working on raising my financial support while I am here. If you want to learn more about this just click on the tabs above labeled "Our Ministry" and "Give to our Ministry"! I have been so encouraged by the incredible people I have had the opportunity to meet with and share my heart with. The Lord is so faithful to establish our steps and I am thankful for his consistent affirmation of his call on mine and Ben's life.
Well, to backtrack a little bit...We went to Hernando, MS this past weekend to get away from things and rest for a few days at Ben's parents' house. It did not disappoint. It was really great to see his family and spend some good quality time lounging on the couch and hanging out around town. We enjoyed every minute especially treating ourselves to a local favorite ice cream joint called Velvet Cream (or as all my Memphis/Senatobia friends informed me "The Dip"). It was delicious and very refreshing on such a hot day.
We have not really been up to much else, but look forward to a trip to the Farmer's Market this weekend when I return home, and to a full week next week as Mississippi State will be finally crawling with students eager for another semester.
On another note, I have been listening to some really great podcast series lately and would love to share them with you and hope you listen to them and are encouraged by them...
** Matt Chandler's series on the Church- its awesome and goes through answering questions like, What is the Church, what is a covenant, what are members and what is an elder...its really great!
**David Platt's series on The Cross and how it relates to everything in the Christian life...in particular I really enjoyed the podcast- "The Cross and Christian Womanhood". It was so excellent.
I hope you check them out and are spurred on to love and good works by the teaching and truth and presented in these messages.
One more thing...I am reading a book called "This Momentary Marriage" by John Piper. It is excellent and so thought provoking...anyways I want to leave you with a quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer on marriage.
"God gives you Christ as the Foundation of your marriage. 'Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ as welcomed you, for the glory of God" (Rom. 15:7)... Don't insist on your rights, don't blame each other, don't judge or condemn each other, don't find fault with each other, but accept each other as you are and forgive each other every day from the bottom on your hearts." -Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Mediate on that...wow. I would encourage EVERYONE, married, single, young or old, to buy this book and read it. It is incredible.
Take Care dear ones!
