Homemade Cinnamon Ornaments with Young Living Essential Oils

I have not really shared about my experience with

Young Living

here on the blog yet. I really wanted to have more time to try them myself and really feel them out before I started declaring them from the rooftops. But here I am, ready to sing their praises.

I could go on and on and on and on about how amazing these oils have been for us. I was so skeptical about them for the longest time but after several close friends bought the starter kit (that were not the type to jump on some bandwagon and try something just for kicks and giggles) I decided to buy the kit also. And thus began my love story with EO's.

Y'all, call me a hippy or whatever you want but these things work, and work well. From headaches, joint pain, stomach aches, sleeping troubles and itching there is an oil for everything and Ben and I have seen them work time and time again.

My favorite oils are Peppermint, Thieves, PanAway, and DiGize. I use peppermint on my temples to soothe my headaches, thieves in our diffuser to keep germs away and boost our immune system (I even have Thieves hand soap, and cleaning products!). I use PanAway on my feet, hips and back when they are aching from being on my feet all day, and DiGize in my belly button to help with stomach aches and indigestion.

I cannot speak highly enough about these oils and their healthy benefits. One of the things that I love most is that there are some oils that are even mentioned in Scripture like Frankincense, Hyssop, Cedarwood and others...these have been around forever and have been valued forever. I will stop my raving now ( they are just that amazing though) and move on...however if you are at all interested in learning how these oils can help your family just leave your email in the comments below or email me at rach(dot)elizabeth(dot)915(at)gmail(dot)com. I would love to share more of my experience with you, and will even share my wholesale discount with you if you want to try a bottle in my December order!

So onto Christmas ornaments! I have never made cinnamon ornaments, but love the classic look of them and decided to make a batch for ornaments, gift tags, and so on! These ornaments have Thieves and Christmas Spirit essential oil in the dough which just kicks up the insanely amazing Holiday smell to a whole new level. Your house is going to smell divine...I promise!!

1 cup applesauce

1 1/4 cup of cinnamon

1 tablespoon ground cloves

5 drops Thieves Young Living Essential Oil (optional)

5 drops Christmas Spirit Young Living Essential Oil (optional)

Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.

In the bowl of a stand mixer with the paddle attachment combine cinnamon, cloves, applesauce, and oils. Let mix until well combined (may be crumbly).

Sprinkle board with cinnamon and pour out dough. Gently knead for 2-3 minutes until dough comes together. Sprinkle cinnamon on a rolling pin and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut out shapes and use a straw or skewer to punch out a hole for string once baked.

Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 2 hours at 200 degrees F. Or until hard as a rock.

See?! Easy as pie, and so quaint and old school. This is a perfect Holiday afternoon activity to do with kids or friends! Such a great way to get in the Christmas spirit!

Do you use essential oils? I have lots more recipes, DIY's and the like using my oils that will be coming soon. Hoping to share a recipe next week for decongestive bath cubes! If you want to know more just ask away, and if you want to order a kit just
